Country Getaways in Ontario: Historic Barn at Landfall Farm B&B

Finally another chance to get out of the city! Given the high gas prices currently I thought let's find a nice getaway for the July 12, 2008 weekend within less than an hour of Toronto, and guess what -- I found one. Located in a beautiful fieldstone farmhouse that dates back to 1868, Landfall Farm B&B offers 3 bedrooms of which one features an ensuite bathroom. My room was a spacious queen size bedroom that featured a dressing room, sitting area and desk. The owner herself, Merle Heintzman, is an interesting story as well: at 88 years of age she has been running this B&B for almost 30 years. As a trained nurse, she worked as a flight nurse during WWII, attending to injured soldiers on the battlefields of France during D-Day. Despite some recent health problems, Merle does a great job running her B&B and gets around her expansive property in a golf cart. Landfall Farm is a great getaway from Toronto, and its ...
