He began his career at Smith Barney, and started AMA Investment Counsel, LLC in where he currently serves as president.

Acuff is Past Chair of the Board for term of two years, beginning 1, and ending 28, 2008. Timmreck received his undergraduate and MPA degrees from the University of Michigan. In he took position with Virginias Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission, and subsequently served four Virginia governors.
