Medical plant Back Cohosh.MP4

Cohsh was used by the Native Tribes to treat female problems. This is not a video on herbal medicine it's just a survey of useful plants close to my home. In the video I say black cohosh and I even wrote the Title as Black but, This is blue Cohosh* & it is used the same way as Black Cohosh. There are plenty of sources for you to do your own research on this plant. I'm not giving medical advice in any of my videos. They are just to show what plants I have access to and my main focus is to show what they look like. The best books I have found on the subject of wild foods & wild medicine are the Peterson Field Guides.

once the flowers are on this plant it becomes too bitter to use. Bitterness means alkaloids and one should take care when a plant tastes bitter. This plant is considered rare in some parts of the country but here there is plenty of them. I ecountered the roots of Trillium one time and they are braided.
