Ocean City Maryland - what a great, unique vacation beach resort! The weather in Ocean City is warm and inviting, the ocean and white sand beaches sparkling. Boardwalk trams can take you the whole length of the boardwalk, which travels from the Inlet to the North Booth at 27th Street. In 1869, businessman Isaac Coffin built the first beach-front cottage to receive paying guests. Prior to 1870, what is now Ocean City was known as "The Ladies' Resort to the Ocean." The Atlantic Hotel, the first major hotel in the town, opened July 4, 1875. The Ocean City Inlet was formed during a major hurricane in 1933, which also destroyed the train tracks across the Sinepuxent Bay. The inlet separated what is now Ocean City from Assateague Island. In 1952, with the completion of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Ocean City became easily accessible to people in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. In 2002, Ocean City undertook the most recent of many, multi-million dollar, beach restoration programs, in an attempt to slow the westward migration of its beaches. The program pumped tons of sand from offshore and deposited it onto the beach. Ocean City now extends just over 9 miles (~15 km) from the southern inlet to the Delaware line. Posted by Susan in Virginia Wildlife on Sep 4th, 2010 | 0 commentsBecause hunting organization are producing deer for sports hunting- you heard it right, THEY ARE PRODUCING THEM .!Everything in the video I have found while researching "deer management" DNR and other hunting websites. It was not surprising that the hunting organization are always busy producing and restocking deer for recreational hunting and why we continue to have "deer overpopulation" and high deer vehicle accidents. MOST IMPORTANTLY "Culling"/hunting does not work. It is more than neutralized by a natural phenomenon called the "Compensatory Rebound Effect". When food become scarce, deer would naturally curtail their reproductive rate down to no fawn or single fawn. When food is plentiful, their reproductive rate would increase to twins and triplets. The ideal is a marginal "over-population" so that the reproductive rate is kept low and the population remains stable in the long term.
