Marty_chrissie's travel blog entry: "Another excellent breakfast in Antlers lounge followed by some inter-netting and lazying around before we set off for our white water rafting expedition based out of the Colorado Hotel opposite the hot springs. We all boarded a yellow ex-school bus a la South Park about 20 mixed bag of people/kids. We were on boat #4 (we all had to carry the boats down the ramp to the Colorado) helmed by a woman policeman (?) who does these 3 hour trips for a little extra money and 'cos she enjoys it. The boats were rubber rafts and we had a woman and her small daughter from Virginia (who reckons she lives 1 hour out of DC and doesn't have house keys!!) and a couple from New Mexico and their 10yr son and younger daughter. It was a nice group and we were soon heading off straight into the white water rapids - we all got soaked and screamed a lot (or was that just me?). This section only lasted about 10 minutes and soon we were just drifting along in this canyon with the railway line perched on the edge on the left hand side and the two separate sections of I-70 on the right. It was a lovely day about mid-80s but cool on the river. We occasionally had to paddle but it was more to make us feel we were really rafting - the current pretty much did everything.
