The district includes buildings dating from 1699 to 1780 which made colonial Virginia's capital. Williamsburg was the center of government, education and culture in the Colony of Virginia.

Mount Vernon – Alexandria, Virginia

Visit the home of the "Father of our Country", George Washing's plantation home, Mount Vernon. Tour through the outbuildings and walk on the same ground Martha and George did in the 1700's. The mansion is built of wood in neoclassical Georgian architectural style, and the estate is located on the banks of the Potomac River.

Washington and Lee University – Lexington, VA
